Cockroaches

American CockroachIdentification: American cockroaches are reddish brown in color and grow to be longer than 2 inches. Specifically, Pennsylvania wood cockroaches are about 20 mm long and can be tan in color. Their bodies are flat and oval-shaped, with 6 legs and 2 antennae, and in some species cockroaches may have wings. The males tend to be smaller than females. Cockroaches are able to move quickly across surfaces and can even scale walls and ceilings.

Behavior & Diet: Cockroaches typically enter your home through cracks and crevices, or may be carried in after attaching themselves to groceries or bags. They prefer warm places with plenty of food and water and will often nest behind walls. They are great at hiding and nocturnal, so spotting one cockroach typically means there are more hiding. Cockroaches may be active all year round and can often carry diseases or aggravate asthma and allergies.
